Rock Carving Hike (Petroglyphs)
Foto: Jan Heidegård
Petroglyphs are images created by removing part of a rock surface
by incising, picking, carving, or abrading, as a form of rock art.

A hike to our fabulous petroglyphs out in Kanstadfjorden. An easy hike for everyone regardless of shape and experience. We like to take the hike in the evening. Then we can enjoy the Arctic light. And if we bring the fishing rod with us, there are good fishing opportunities.

We will provide a local historian who has knowledge about the origin and meaning of the petroglyphs and other local stories, and a brochure with information.
Some snack will also be with us on the hike, like coffee/tea and chocolated You need good hiking shoes, and we recommend warm underwear and windproof clothes.
There are also other rock carvings in the area. Several of these are only accessible by boat. Contact us and we will arrange a tour.

We will take you to the fantastic rock carvings we have here in Lødingen and the surrounding area.
We walk out of Kanstadfjorden, along the path, towards the petroglyphs.
Here is lots of great nature.
Always an opportunity to see moose, eagles and reindeer.
We are not busy, and the pace is adapted to the group. After an hour's walk we arrive. Here we will prepare for some coffee and snacks while you study the carvings.
